Acer has just released the Acer Aspire One a mini-laptop weighing in at 2-pounds and a few ounces. It is a rival for the ASUS Eee 900 and Eee 901. The outstanding part is the Acer Aspire One cost $379. It comes with WiFi 802.11b/g and 3G and Bluetooth will be added later in 2008. I planned on buying the ASUS Eee 900 or 901 and now I don't know. Both have Intel Atom (Diamondville) chips. Both have 8.9-inch displays and both have various OS systems. I am going with Linux either way. The new Acer Aspire has a 80-percent of a full-size keyboard and seems comfortable for typing. The Acer colors are totally cool, sea shell white, sapphire blue, golden brown and coral pink. ASUS Eee 901 is basically white or black. It has 1 GB RAM compared to Aspire One's 512MB. ASUS has a total of 20 GB with 4 GB dedicated and 16 GB flash memory. ASUS Eee 901 has twice the battery life as the Aspire One. It also has Bluetooth built in. Both models have a personal choice for including an OS. The cost of the ASUS Eee 901 sells for around $619 and the Eee 900 a little under $500. I'm not sure but I think the Eee 900 may eventually be phased out. Everything I have seen and heard about the Acer Aspire One looks hot. Any opinions?
