Device: Fujitsu fi-6770 Color Duplex Document Scanner

Fujitsu introduced the next generation of its award winning low-volume production scanners, the Fujitsu fi-6670 and fi-6770. The new color, duplex scanners offer new intelligent functions for advanced paper handling, improved feeding technology and enhanced image processing speeds to provide best-in-class document scanning.

In addition to bundling Kofax VirtualReScan 4.2 Professional software in the new Fujitsu fi-6670 and fi-6770, a hardware-equipped version of the scanners is also available for customers who desire even better image processing functionality and performance. The hardware-equipped models, fi-6670A and fi-6770A, include the Kofax VRS 4.2 Color Graphics Adapter (CGA) board pre-installed, as well as the VRS software bundling.

Incorporating feedback from Fujitsu customers, the new scanners integrate the latest in innovative scanning features to help increase efficiencies in document scanning, including:

* Increased speeds: Delivers increased speeds of up to 90 pages per minute (ppm) / 180 images per minute (ipm) at 200dpi color, landscape scanning, with support for long document scanning (up to10 feet).
* Intelligent Multi-feed function: Simplifies batch scanning processes by allowing intentional overlapping documents, such as sticky notes or photos, to pass through the scanner without triggering false multi-feeds.
* Auto Size Detection Feature: Ensures that odd shaped or tabbed documents are accurately scanned. Additionally, the scanners will remove the dark shading in hole-punched documents.
* Ergonomic design: The fi-6670 scanner features identical control panels on either side of the scanner to allow for one button scanning configurations. The flatbed-equipped scanner, the fi-6770, provides users the option of re-positioning the automatic document feeder (ADF) to enable more comfortable scanning.

"At Thomson Reuters we’re always looking for solutions that will offer the highest in speed and efficiency because the success of our business depends on it," said Mike Herlihy, director, consulting and implementation services, Thomson Reuters. "The newest Fujitsu scanners are both dependable and fast. When using the advanced automatic orientation feature in the VRS hardware, we’re ensured efficient scanning the first time around."

In addition to offering the best-in-class functionality and value, Fujitsu also provides industry-leading software bundles for its scanners. The Fujitsu fi-6670, fi-6670A, fi-6770, and fi-6770A scanners are bundled with Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard and ScandAll PRO, a batch scanning application. ScandAll PRO also enables seamless linking with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server to enable document sharing and collaboration.

The scanners also come bundled with Kofax VRS 4.2 Professional automated document image-enhancement software. VRS 4.2 Professional provides users with more automation capabilities that further reduce the need for manual intervention in the scanning process and offers a powerful suite of intelligent image processing features, including automatic orientation, blank page removal, background saturation and color detection. Furthermore, the VRS software eliminates the need to rescan document images because of its automatic check for adjustment of alignment (skew), brightness, contrast and image clarity.

The Kofax VRS 4.2 Professional hardware-equipped scanners, fi-6670A and fi-6770A, features a CGA board that assists to decrease document preparation time. The scanners also provide increased throughput for features such as automatic page rotation and deleting blank pages that traditionally took human intervention.

"Fujitsu experienced a record year in 2007 and we expect to continue to build on that momentum," said Victor Kan, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "Because the core of Fujitsu scanning solutions are our customers, we can design products that map directly back to what the industry is asking for. The newest production scanners mark another milestone in expanding an already successful product segment."

The new Fujitsu fi-6670 and fi-6770 document scanners will be available through authorized resellers, VARs and distributors including Compucenter de Mexico, Cranel Imaging, Ingram Micro, NewWave Technologies, Inc., and Tech Data Corporation. Fujitsu has priced the scanners as follows:
