MOBOTIX Corp. a leader in commercial and residential surveillance equipment introduces a small plastic dome ceiling surveillance camera with an expansive 360-degree view and a maximum 2048 x 1536 color resolution. The easy to install surveillance dome appears to the uneducated eye to resemble a high-end fire detector or air filter.

It operates on a 10/100 Ethernet, USB, Audio interface which allows small business owners and residential customers to view the streaming video from a remote site via a PC. The initial start-up cost starts at $698 for the Q22 which makes it a huge cost saver compared to multi-camera and sound surveillance systems.

The Hemispheric Q22 has a camera that takes a sweeping 360-degree view of a room recording and monitoring events and keeping tabs on people movement. It can be set to zoom, pan and record audio via the built-in microphone and speakers. It also includes an alarm function that can be set in advance. The digital technology includes a .5-inch CMOS progressive scan with an image range from 160 x 220 to the maximum 2048 x 1536 resolution.

The frame rate for M-JPEG is 16 fps for VGA, 12 fps for TV-PAL, 6 fps for Mega and 4 fps for 3Mega. The maximum video scan for live-recording of video and audio is 30 fps for VGA and comparable descending capacity for the other MxPEG. Files can be compressed and a large capacity SD slot is included with a capability of up to 16 GB.

Conveniently the external storage can be transferred on NAS and PC/server directly without the burden of adding recording software. The Hemispheric Q22 comes with its own control room management software that can be used to set, archive, save and edit content. The Q22 has a backlight compensation, automatic white balance and image distortion correction. It also includes an automatic or manually setting for motion detection.

The alarm/event has a series of optional settings which allow the user to choose among temperature, motion events, telephony and visual/acoustic settings. The event can be set to record post-event activities. The audio/telephony commands can be sent VoIP, SIP, two-way speakers with remote control of the camera in and outputs. An event notification can be preset to give notice to users of any unusual event. The power supply is supplied over Ethernet IEE 802.3af. The power usage is minimal and the cost to operate the system is cost efficient.

The range of uses for the Hemispheric Q22 includes monitoring and recording a small office, store, vacation home and kennel area. The advantage to the user is the ability to be anywhere and get a view of what's going on via a laptop or desktop. No need to be a hoverer when all you have to do is take a peak from wherever you need to be. Set the alarm function and get a mobile message of a possible event. The company makes an indoor Basic model and an indoor/outdoor model. The MOBOTIX Hemispheric Q22 is both affordable and convenient.
