AT&T Inc.and Research In Motion today announced the launch of the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone, which includes built-in global positioning system (GPS) support for location-based applications and services. Combined with navigation and mapping applications such as AT&T Navigator, the handset provides turn-by-turn voice and on-screen directions with colorful 3-D moving maps that can be used in vehicles or while walking. The Sony XEL-1 OLED 11-inch display made its way across the Pacific from Japan and is now on sale by select Sony retailers. The XEL-1 launched in Japan in December, 2007. The overall reviews are mixed. There is little dispute the OLED (organic light emitting diode) 3 mm slim design produces outstanding brightness, contrast and rich picture quality. However, in the court of public opinion some wonder does the dynamic picture quality justify paying $2500 for the XEL-1's 11-inch display.

Panasonic announced the forthcoming sale of its new LUMIX DMC-TZ50 set for May. The latest model improves upon previous TZ models and adds new or improved features. Panasonic adds WiFi and a point and click upload to Google Picasa Web Album via T-Mobile HotSpot. It sweetened the deal by offering a free one-year subscription to the T-Mobile HotSpot services with some restrictions. The Google Picasa upload feature can be accessed by any home or office wireless network. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $449.95.
