The Insignia NS-C5112 In-Dash CD Deck has a total of 84-watt output evenly distributed over 4-channels. The model luckily fit my car. Some friends recommended it because it is iPod ready and has HD radio. The CD deck and radio turner on my car was toast. So, my main focus was finding a reasonably priced in-dash deck with quality sound. The Insignia NS-C5112 model fit the bill. It cost a little over $100 and the professional installation by the Geek Squad cost only $50.

I was taken aback by how well the low-cost car deck performed. It comes with a card-size remote that works fantastically. The layout of the remote is simple and unambiguous. The faceplate on the CD/Deck has an LCD light indicator that displays what you are listening to with the option to change the sound, track or station. I like the overall appearance of the Insignia In-Dash Deck.

Features That Make A Difference:

First off for anybody out there unfamiliar with HD radio, you are in store for a big huge surprise. The new HD radio stations offers CD-like music, sports and talk radio as you have never heard AM or FM before. HD radio rocks. I have numerous HD radio stations in my broadcasting area. Most are stations that have been around for a long time that have switched their broadcasting to either FM or AM HD radio. The sound is clear, and like being at home with your CD player. There are some live demos on-line so you can hear the difference between regular FM/AM and FM/AM HD radio.

The next feature that was a big sell for me is the Insignia CD/HD radio deck is iPod ready. I have the Classic 30 GB iPod player and according to the Geek Squad guy everything was a go. I simply hooked up my iPod to one of the auxiliary inputs connections and it was streaming all of my music though the deck and to the speakers.

I am so totally impressed with the sounds, ease and overall flexibility of the Insignia deck. In addition the player is compatible with all popular formats, (CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 and WMA). There are 4 EQ modes which include rock, classical and the like. I really am not interested in this feature. I have my own EQ system. I simply like the performance of the Insignia deck, HD radio, my iPod sync, and the CD player.
