The Motorola RZR has been on the market for several years and has proven itself to be a major player in the mobile phone industry. The initial model had what I thought was everything a cell phone customer could want. The significant deficiency I found over the past year was the battery life. Last years model was prone to scratching. The popular black model picked up every slight interaction with keys, metal objects resulting in a scratched up device.

The new and improved MotoKRZR has a sleek metallic silver cover. This particular color seems to be not phased by slight interactions with other metals. It is not only more attractive, both on the outside and the display—it is more resilient. This is a good improvement over the past model. I would recommend this color choice over all others.

The battery in the new model holds a charge for the incomparable run time of nearly three days. The previous phone and battery was lucky to hold a charge for one day. After some thought and review of the installation instructions, the previous battery life problems could have occurred due to operator error. While we all think we know how to get a familiar piece of equipment up and running, following instructions on the MOTOKRZR is absolutely critical.

The instructions tell the user to charge the battery for 24 hours. It then instructs the user to run the battery all the way down to nil before recharging again. This step is essential. In the older version MOTORZR we did not follow the instructions to the letter and that could have been the reason it never held a charge the way the new MOTOKRZR appears to do.

Some of the new and improved features of the MOTOKRZR include an enhanced music album downloads from the V Cast Music catalog on your computer. The ability to record and play voice recording and play or send them to designated recipients.

The record and play video clips is improved. The options allow the user to adjust the image brightness, adjust for different lighting and pick the duration. The clips are designated as Short, (5 seconds or less), Medium (15 seconds) or Long (maximum memory). The user is allowed to select the color effects, Normal, Antique, Black & White, or Negative.

The take and send photo feature allows the user to select the appropriate resolution for sending to recipients. The option feature allows the user to select, 1280 x1024, 640 x240, or 160x120. There is also an optional timer feature that allows the user to delay the photo take for three, five or ten seconds. In addition, the user can adjust the brightness, white balance, shutter sound and color effect.

The new MOTOKRZR allows users to send and receive multi-media messages. This feature is a good improvement as it allow the user to send video with or without sound by simply scrolling to the file and pressing OK. The feature is easy and takes little or no time to set up.

The new MOTOKRZR supports Bluetooth wireless headsets and car kits. It has a simple on and off switch for Bluetooth profiles and if you forget there is a prompt that will tell you to turn Bluetooth to the on position.


The new MOTOKRZR has fine tuned the previous model and enhanced its features in a sleek new appearance. As with any sophisticated piece of electronics, the MOTOKRZR is repugnant to water, alcohol, liquids or extreme temperatures. There are some great underwater plastic cases available on the market that are tested for various depths and conditions.
